Dr. Binod Kumar Singh, M. Phil. & Ph.D., and an alumnus of Department of
Geography, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), started his career as Geographer in
the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India in the year
2002. He is also an alumnus of IIPS and got his M. Phil. degree for his important
thesis ‘Migration in Greater Mumbai’ from this prestigious Institution. He was also
conferred Ph.D. degree by Utkal University for his thesis ‘Disabled Population in
India’.
For his outstanding work and expertise during his service more than 20 years in the
Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India, he has been
conferred the prestigious ‘Census Silver Medal’ by the Hon’ble President of India
in the year 2011 and was offered the Chair of Assistant Registrar General (Map) of
India.
Presently he is the Director of National Atlas & Thematic Mapping Organisation
(NATMO), the oldest and the only map-making Organisation of the Union
Government and an important stakeholder of National Geospatial Policy (NGP). He
is now the Sr. Vice President of Indian National Cartographic Association (INCA)
also.
