Dr Anil has received introductory training in statistical methods and research designs from the University of Kerala. He has close to 20 years of experience working with different Government and Private Agencies and on different research projects in India. He was a lead researcher and Project Coordinator for the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-3) in Assam and Manipur. He has completed about 25 research studies in demographic and social research on issues of Ageing, HIV/AIDS, health and nutrition, morbidity and reproductive health and education. He has adequate knowledge and first-hand experience in sampling, quantitative and qualitative research techniques and advanced statistical methods. Having knowledge and experience of using quantitative statistical packages like SPSS and EpiInfo, he developed and executed projects involving quantitative and qualitative techniques of data collection, including in-depth interviews, focus group discussions etc. He has acquired expertise in analysing and interpreting qualitative data. He has visited Thailand, USA and Australia to participate in academic events. He is currently heading the Department of Demography, University of Kerala and is also the Director in Charge of Population Research Centre, University of Kerala.
